Members are Saying: Raise our Taxes!

Responsible Wealth members (high net-wealth individuals) are using their surprising voice to advocate for HIGHER taxes on THEMSELVES in a new open letter.

Over 300 high-net-worth individuals have signed, and are calling upon Congress to keep a surtax on millionaires' income in the new spending bill.

Our Responsible Wealth project’s director, Mike Lapham, spoke at the press conference about the letter. Over 200 of those who signed are members of Responsible Wealth.

The letter asks the Senate to include a millionaires surcharge on incomes over $10 million in the current infrastructure budget and revenue package. The legislation is part of a budget reconciliation package that can pass with just 51 votes in the Senate.

The Millionaires Surcharge is the only tax increase under consideration that is specifically designed to tax the very wealthy. It would be a missed opportunity if Congress were to pass such important legislation and not specifically increase tax rates on billionaires and the ultra-rich.

Responsible Wealth members, having benefited from economic policies tilted in their favor, feel a responsibility to join with others in changing policies that widen economic gaps like the racial wealth divide. Sound like you? For more info contact the project's director, Mike Lapham, at [email protected]
