Postal Banking Gains Momentum

If we would have told you three years ago that postal banking could be making a comeback, you may have not believed us. Ever since our publication of State of the Dream 2015: Underbanked and Overcharged, the idea of postal banking has been gaining more attention and more support. Senator Elizabeth Warren and presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders have been the most visible proponents of the idea, with Sanders touting the idea on a number of occasions on the campaign trail.

Last month, UFE was among 20 partner organizations who gathered a whopping 150,000 signatures.  In the photo above, the signatures were delivered to Postmaster General Brennan on December 17, 2015.

Responsible Wealth and our parent organization, United for a Fair Economy, have been active members for several years of a coalition supporting Postal Banking.

In addition to those 150,000 signatures, over 200 Responsible Wealth members and business leaders, and other wealthy individuals [all in the top 5% of wealth/income] have signed on in support of the proposal, and RW is actively recruiting additional signers, including publicly-known high profile individuals. We welcome your ideas and connections to new signers. If you have not yet signed on, it’s not too late.
