Extreme wealth inequality and racism continue to put our democracy at risk. UFE and our Responsible Wealth project have joined One for Democracy, which is asking wealthy people to pledge to move their resources to groups organizing for democracy before the election next month. We’re asking wealthy people to give 1% of your assets RIGHT NOW to commit to the future of our democracy. You might choose to give your 1% to voter registration and mobilization, or to election protections, or you might choose some other organization including UFE that work toward a more democratic society. You can also include gifts you have already given to support efforts like Black Lives Matter and other organizing for social change. Whatever you choose, we hope you’ll be bold and generous and do it now. Our democracy needs your 1% RIGHT NOW.
The goal of this effort is to raise $100 million before the election. $45 million has already been pledged from 102 people. Your one percent will be added to many many others and together we will help ensure as many people as possible participate in the democratic process.
